Miranda Cook

A wealth of experience and a broad understanding of spinal cord injury and its impact upon individuals and their families.
I have highly specialised skills in the field of spinal cord injury, with 18 years of experience in this sector.
I am expert in occupational therapy assessment and intervention, including wheelchair and seating assessments, hand therapy, functional rehabilitation and prescription of equipment and home adaptations.
I hold a Level 4 Advanced People Handling and Risk Assessment Key Trainer’s Certificate and can undertake risk assessments for safe manual handling.
I have prepared in excess of 70 OT Aids & Equipment expert witness reports specifically for adults with spinal cord injury in over 70 cases. I have attended numerous case conferences and joint discussions, prepared a great many numerous joint statements and given evidence in Court.

I am a Consultant Occupational Therapist with clinical expertise in managing spinal cord injuries, stroke and other neurological conditions. Having worked for over twenty years in the private sector, charitable organisations , national health services in the UK and organisations abroad, I have a deep understanding of various aspects of the disabilities and its impact. I am also an experienced expert witness for adults with spinal cord injuries.
My clinical expertise lies in carrying out thorough OT needs assessments, hand therapy & splinting, functional re-education including advising on specialist equipment, minor adaptations and the provision of mobility solutions and posture and seating management in complex disabilities.
I am passionate about innovation and technologies in upper limb rehabilitation, and have been a speaker on various platforms advocating technologies as a clinical tool.
I am a Trustee in the NEURAM Foundation, a charitable organisation dedicated to raising awareness and improving neurological rehabilitation care worldwide.

Where we work

We can undertake assessments and treatments in the client's home or at a clinic room in Buckinghamshire if prefered. Our members are based in Oxfordshire, on the border with Buckinghamshire and close to the major motorway networks and rail links. Our members can travel nationwide and abroad to undertake expert witness assessments.

Our Consultant Attended ISCoS 2024 in Brussels – Advancing Expertise in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation

We are proud to share that one of our lead consultants recently attended the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) 2024 Annual Scientific Meeting, held in Brussels, Belgium. This prestigious global event brought together leading minds in spinal cord injury (SCI) care, research, and rehabilitation.

ISCoS 2024 served as a hub of innovation and collaboration, showcasing the latest breakthroughs in spinal cord injury management—from cutting-edge neurorehabilitation techniques to advancements in assistive technologies, clinical practices, and long-term care models.

By attending sessions led by top researchers, engaging in hands-on workshops, and networking with multidisciplinary experts from around the world, our consultant gained invaluable insights into the evolving landscape of SCI rehabilitation. Topics included:

  • Emerging trends in neuroplasticity and recovery
  • Innovations in robotics and neuroprosthetics
  • Psychosocial support and quality-of-life strategies for SCI patients
  • Cross-disciplinary approaches to rehabilitation care

Our members were proud to attend the UK Tetrahand Symposium 2023 on 5th and 6th June at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury. They were privileged to listen to a range of speakers including a range of international surgeons specialising in tendon and nerve transfer surgery and therapists with expertise in motor mapping and FES. An experience that will truly add to the clinical expertise of our team.
